Any reponse is greatly recieved also how much is a timing chain kit is it better to buy from seat, did they modify it to solve the problem with slippage?

Alrite mate
i've purchased a 2002 Seat Ibiza 1.2
for my first car.
brought from an auction, got it home, and it wouldnt start.
found out the cambelt "Timing Chain" had slipped 2 teeth.
in the process of gettin it fixed, but the mechanic mentiond about a sensor
picking up a problem, and that could be the course of the engine not starting.
but he ignored that, and found the timing chain had slipped and damaged 2 valves.
this is the problem with Seat's, theres not often a problem with them, but when ther is, its big!
there is a kit to fix the timing chain, but includes a new head gasket, chain and bits & bobs.
