Rough engine/non start problem

Postby MajorTom on Tue Dec 29, 2020 11:48 am

Hi again all
Got an issue with my 2010 Leon II 1.6tdi ecomotive that I hope someone can help with please.
Suddenly started cutting out for no apparent reason. When I turn ignition off for a few moments she starts again, sometimes OK and other times in limp mode. Sometimes not at all so I have to wait longer and try again but eventually she starts.
I have put on the diagnostic and I had code

P228DOO - FUEL METERING VALVE, CONTROL VARIATION - PRESSURE TOO HIGH - PERMANENT

I cleared the code and she started but ran rough until a bit warmer.

I scanned again and got
001D38 - UNKNOWN FAULT CODE

One of the things I understand that it could be is fuel pressure regulator fault but these are a bit pricey so I need to make sure it is the culprit before I get one.
Does anyone know how to test the pressure regulator please?

Any suggestions appreciated
cheers
MajorTom
