I am due my 20K service in about 2000 miles - I have entered a thread else where reference to servicing outside dealer network without effecting the warranty - I know as long as the VAT registered garage sticks to the sechduel like [email protected]@@ no problems with warranty - Vehicel registered Jan 06 - First Service October 06 at 10K

Question is can anyone tell me or provide me with what the serivce consisits of - Speaking with my local dealer 20K service is £299 + Brake fluid change at £51:shocked7fl: - At dealer rates that is a lot of money plus if get done elsewhere my labour rate would be hal of that from my dealer :laugh8kb: plus I dont trust my dealership what so ever:sad9cd:

Advice would be great help:confused1bb:

Can I ask which dealership you use Ian? I''ve just had the 40k service on my Ibiza TDi done by Humphris Seat in Oxford and can't praise them any more highly. Really brilliant service department, give them a call and see what they say?

Yeah Newbury and Emmer Green are both under the'Bells Southern' umbrella. Humphris is a family owned dealer. For sales I recommend you deal with Jean Hendry, for service any of the guys are great. They undecut Emmer Green / Newbury by over £200 for my service. Got the 40K service, Brake fluid change and MOT for £400 including a courtesy car.

Just had my 2nd inspection service (20K) on my LCR at the main dealers for £180.
Although that didn't include the brake fluid change, which they did seperately a few months back for £85.
It probably would have been cheaper all together I would think,

Hope this helps.

thanks Guys - Gives me something to go on - am considering an out of dealer service as long as they stick to what is required at the service an what Seat say needs to be done then warranty wont be effected - Just waiting on a few quotes

Newbury Seat - £299 + £55 brake fluid change
Emmer Green - £299 + £55 brake fluid change
Humphries Oxford - £240 + £50 Brake fluid change

Considering Seat in Swindon and possibly Andover way to - Anybody used these dealers at all????

My LCR had its 20k service last Tuesday at JP Board Seat Specialist (ex. dealer) in Bridgend.

Had my brake (upgraded) fluid changed at Badger5 along with discs & pads not long ago, so not included in the service.

It was exactly the same service any franchised dealer would carry out, with the exception that the guys at JP Board actually look at your car instead of blindly ticking boxes from the comfort of the mess room while the oil is draining... They also checked for fault codes and did some logs of my MAF, which didn't cost anything - unlike a dealer who either refuses to do it, or charges £40 for 5 minutes use of a lap top!! And they called me as soon as they'd finished, instead of using my car as a taxi until 5 minutes before closing time.

Total cost, including an upgrade to fully synthetic oil was only £134.17 :D

Why oh why do people still pay over twice as much for less of a service from a main dealer?!

Ok, I didn't get a courtesy car. But if I'd wanted one, I could have got a half decent one (Golf 1.6) from Europcar for less than £40 for the day and still saved over £100!

If service history is all you're worried about - any VAT registered business will have a rubber stamp.

If the warranty concerns you, they can provide you with copies of receipts / invoices to prove they've used either genuine OE parts, or parts of OE (or higher) quality.

I had same prob, Sunderland dealer quoted over £200 just for the 20k service, I got a quote elsewhere and went back to dealer to buy oil filter just to make warranty ok, when they enquired what price i got they matched it £150 + £35 brake fluid change. apparently you have to ask for a "price match" when you book up? sounds stupid really, surely the dealers would get more custom if they were straight with you from the beginning. hope this helps
