Happened REALLY bad last night, but has happened a few times.

In second gear (only) i get a whining / grinding noise from the passenger side footwell, sounds to me like the gear isnt connectin....

Any ideas??

Gonna take it to a VDUB specialist on Sat (looks like holiday moneys goin then....)

If thats the same as what happened to mine, a new gearbox was installed under warranty...otherwise 1700 for a new one allegedly!!
btw mine crunched when you tried to put it in when over say...3000 revs. eventually went in but by then you were back into 1st gear territory!!

Im having problems engaging gears too! They rn't going in smoothly as they should, I have to gently force them in, which is worrying! I thought i might need a new clutch, but my brother inlaw whoes was a mechanic says that the clutch might just need adjusting! Does any1 know if u can adjust the clutch and if so where on the car?

Cheers

Hydraulic Self Adjusting clutch so I believe... no tweaking necessary... could be wrong but that was what I heard.

I know that second gear syncro mesh's go a lot on golfs, can't engauge the gear because its turning the wrong speed inside the box.

I hope it not that! £££££
