Got an amp now to power my 6x9's is it ok to take the 12v feed from the cd changer to the amp ?
I have tested it with the meter and the green wire is 12v live, i dont have any cd changer at the mo but will be getting one later.

No do not take the power feed from this cable, you will more than likely blow up your HU doing this, or at least blow internal fuses which wont be a warantee job.

Buy a proper wiring kit and get a feed from the battery, it's the only way to do this.
