hi all.

I managed to get a look at the 97 seat toledo 2l sport I just got.

I've discovered that the distributer cap and rotor arm needs replacing so a little trip to the car accesories shop is called for this weekend also to get some spark plugs aswell.

But any way back to the subject in the heading:- I have noticed that when the steering is turning when the the car is stationary there seems to be be a noise at the bottom of the column, it also appears to be very juddery when moving. I've looked at the fluid level and the guy before me seems to have overfilled the oil level probably due to the power steering failing in the cars mot. the mot failure sheet says 'power steering main drive system defective'.

does this mean I need to replace the steering rack? or can it be repaired?

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

with thanks
