The Beezer now has a nice quaife diff installed in it and it makes a hell of a difference to traction now. The cars TCS system still tries to work if you leave the TCS on, but the mechanical diff make a big difference.
Traction off the line out of junctions is superb.... TCS off.

The best bit is traction through the corners... gone is the lift off or you will understeer off the road bit, but now you keep it floored and steer it. The action of the diff working is one which pulls you round the corner tighter, so much so you need to get used to it and unwind the steering lock a bit, else you turn too tight and into a curb probably.

Another worthy point to mention was the g'box had only regular hypoid gear oil in from the factory, where you would have expected to see fully synthetic. It now runs fully synthetic and is so much smoother it greatly improved.

Thanks goes to Autotechink down in Totton nr Southampton (02380 666200) for their superb workmanship once again.

regards
Bill

Oh dear, looks like the opposition have to find another 5 secs/lap! ;)

What was the wallet damage, Bill - if it's not trade price? Thinking about this for the future VR6 before power mods.

It would cost £1200 for the drive in drive out conversion, inclusive of all parts, labour etc etc etc.

Quaife diff itself with the vat and ARP bolts costs over £680 alone. :(

Maybe 5sec a lap in the wet :p probably not the dry... :)

Need to learn to drive it again now. Big difference in handling terms. At least the Jetta and Ibiza now have the same type of traction, so jumping in and out of them "should'nt" take as much adjustment. [theory anyway :p]

Bill
