So, having got 2 more dogs than I anticipated I bought one of the very, very last S6 Avants. 230Bhp, 6 Speed, 2.2, 5 cyl, 20VT - the right blue inside and out - should have been NICE. OK, OK it is 'Quattro' and a heavy estate BUT it has been chipped (details unknown). Trouble is it just seems slow to me.

What does slow mean? Hard to say but our Leon Cupra feels fast (0-60 in 7.7) and my last car a BMW 328 (0-60 in 7.3) felt fast but my S6 (0-60 in 6.7) feels b....dy slow!! AArgh!

And I know 4WD gives good 0-60 times and saps performance but I drove a 150 Bhp diesel A6 the other day and mid range it would probably keep up.:a And I know 0-60s don't tell half the story but it is all I can compare with.

Got any ideas anyone? Maybe I should try a rolling road (where is the nearest one to Gloucester? Birminham?) Maybe I should add £5k (that I hav'nt got) and get a high milage BMW 540 Touring - If that sounds like sacrilage, give me a better idea.

you are right there mate!, i just got a mondeo tdci, it was a shock how fast these diesels are, 0 - 60 in diesel waste of time, in high gears great, out pull my leon cupra no probs in high gears, and a lot of other nice sportie cars on the road.

If so, do you have a new ECU now?

PM me for more info if this is in fact your car.

Shouldn't be!

They are really quick for a car of that size!

Easily quicker than Leon cupra's!

If you think its slow you more than likley have a problem(Especially if its chipped!)

Too right I had a problem,

A **** chip, a failed ECU, an ameateurish extra valve on the turbo, new bushes and arms on the front suspension, both cats on thier way out, cheap tyres (max pressure 44 psi - which is the recomended normal partly laden pressure, with more for fully laden) and that is just the stuff I now know about - BUT it is beautiful, it has a new ECU, valve removed and runs OKish now so it is off to AM Cars, who are a couple of hours from me specialise in the UR Quattro with the same 20v engine in my S6, to see what they can do.

I'll update in 3 weeks when I pick it up.
