Can anyone help me.
have purchased a 2.0 TDI sport leon only 2 weeks ago, everytime i come to a holt at traffic lights or anywhere for that matter i can feel the car shaking underneath me, is this the norm..????..I find it strange for a car which has just turned 1year old to shake whilst its idle....

Anyone else out there with the same problem...???..
Have taken it back to the dealers who say they cant fault it !!!!!
very strange

like a rough idle....have you checked your oil levels? if you rev the engine after it starts shaking is it ok?

Also have you taken the car for a good blast?? Sounds weird but they need a good thrashing every now and then to clear all the crap out

...after i rev the engine it still does the same thing...!!..Hvnt checked the oil level.but withit being into the dealerships twice in 2.5 weeks i would exspect them to check that with the inspection sheet they fill out...

Trust me ive given it some welly...!!!!... but the problem still exists....
The dealerships seem to talk alot of nonsense....they keep saying other cars do the same.

apparently newish diesels tend to burn a lot of oil....so I'd just double check that its topped up if I were you.

Also what fuel have you been using? Some people get a funny period between going to say optimax from normal and vice versa

Will have to check the oil level tonite wen i get home.....
Hvnt got a clue to what diesel i put in...!!!...will check next time i fill up.
but the problem is so annoying its unbelievable...

Any other suggestions to what it can be, I have the BTCC body kit on with twin exhuast pipes, would that shaking occur within the exhuast pipe system..???...
An independent garage said it may be your engine mounts...???

just really confused to what it could be, because i dnt buy what the dealership says...!!!

Its true, some diesels do just vibrate a bit when ideling. My Ibiza did the same, though my A3 doesn't (and has the same engine as your Leon). Unless its fairly violent, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If you want to feel a proper rough idle, sit in my Land Rover ;)

I wldnt say its a violent shake at that, but its annoying, especially when your passengers can feel it at times and ask you why its doing that for.....
just turn round and say its the norm.....

hope it dsnt get any worst...!!!!...
yeah ive also had and audi A4,A3 and VW golf 150 TDI and never had any problems with them...

Would adding a superchip cause any problems such as shaking

possibly as I think superchip is setup more for diesel optimax fuel so using normal diesel would cause it to splutter etc (as it would on a petrol) although that would have to be checked with the superchips

Thats interesting information, will have to check that with the supplier of the superchip. the car has been superchipped to 188bhp by the previous owner, so it does have some serious welly in it.....
Friend with the new leon TDI FR couldnt believe the power it had....

But will surely check that info and even try putting the diesel optimax in...
fingers crossed this could be the solution...!!!!...

If it's been chiped already then it'll be the engine mounts..... They are very soft as standard in the 2.0tdi and with it remapped it will cause the engine to move quite a bit when giving it some - so the engine mount fails quicker than it should.

So with the engine mount failure that would cause the shaking of the car when stationery.???..
It would certainly make things worse. Some shaking is inevitable with diesels, some are just worse than others. Failed engine mounts will just make anything more obvious.

Just bare in mind, they probably won't be covered under warranty as the car has been remapped. As Dave says, the standard ones aren't designed to cope with the extra strains placed on them by a remapped engine, so a dealer may refuse to work on it under warranty. If they won't do it under warranty, you'll probably find an independent VAG specialist will do the job cheaper than a main dealer.

I have got a certificate indicating that the superchip has been underwritten by some insurance company and that this will in no way or form void my seat warranty. This has also been verified by the seat dealership that sold me the car..!!!...does anyone know where my neares VAG specilist is..???...live in Leeds
