Hi lads,

I'm almost set to go ahead with the remap of my car, but I have a few more questions before I do...I basically seem to have a choice of three companies. Two Irish companies who say they can bring my car from 90bhp to 124bhp, and Upsolute (Ireland) who say they can go to 116bhp. I know there's very little in it, but would you recommend Upsolute as a company? I'm just thinking that it might be best to go for the lower option with them, to avoid engine/car wear and tear. What do you think?

Will my car have problems with emissions etc for the NCT (MOT in England) when it's due next year with a remap? I don't want to fork out now and then have to undo it all.

Are these companies really telling the truth when they say that a remap is completely invisible? I have a year left on my warranty and I'm a bit hesitant to void it unecessarily.

Does having a remap done on a car affect it's resale value in the future? Are there any options here?

Sorry for all the questions, but I don't want to make a big mistake, if possible.

Many Thanks

Philip

No your car wont have problems with Emissions but then I dont know what the regulations are in ROI

MOST and I mean MOST companies that tell you its invisible are talking out of thier backsides I mean can the police find kiddy porn on a PC even though you delete it? same thing applies here ... you would have to have the eqpt to read the code though!

IMO it doesnt affect the re-sale value in a positive way at all as you rarely make money on modifications but not evey one may want a re-mapped car.

Cheers S1BDN,

That's food for thought anyway....although I meant, would the remap affect the resale of my car in a negative way. I wouldn't have expected it to increase the value.

Are Upsolute any good? The other companies I've been considering don't seem to have many years experience.

Mate you cant really ask a forum full of people who have re-maps what they think as they will say REVO cos I have them lol .. why not speak to each company and see what they say and balance it all out as Pros and Cons ....

Its your car and your decision ..

I have Upsolute in 2002 and it was developmental it was okay but most re-maps are similar its the customer service and when something goes wrong that you need to check out

Excellent....thanks S1BDN...good point...I suppose it's like asking what's the best car to buy! Completley pointless....one of the companies I'm looking at say they'll fix anything that goes wrong with the car as a result of the chip, and they're TUV approved so that might be the way to go...

Thanks again for you advice...much appreciated.

Pros and Cons isnt it .... good customer service and support is worth money at the end of the day and the biggest figures dont always mean best .. some of the best companies will actually reduce the figures for safety and driveability .. one such company hikes the figures and POP turbos and clutches go :)

Wish you well with it whatever you do

Yeah, funny you should say that, but I was more attracted to Upsolute for that very reason (they're offering slightly less bhp!). I don't fancy taking risks with my car....thanks again mate...:biggrin9gp:
