BOOT NOT LOCKING!!

Hi ,new to the forum so a big hello to all and please take it easy on me!Having trouble or no success really on locking my boot on my seat ibiza 1.4. 2001.It wont lock with the central locking or standard key and leaving me with a security risk.All the other 4 doors are locking except the boot.Any help or commments highly appreciated even if you just say oil or grease it!

maybe the lock and the mechanism that locks it has become separated. when you lock or unlock with central locking can you hear the motor in the rear boot lock, moving at all?

Common problem 2 causes first the locking solidnod may have failed or (and) the bar linking boot lock and handle has come adrift all are easy fixes but getting the boot trim panel of can be a pain
